Would be pleased to receive any further information about my grandfather who served in the 3rd Batallion from feb 1896 to June 1919
His brother Charles Henry went to Chile and finally to Peru. He was my wife's grandfather!

He landed in France on 12.8.1914, and was entitled to a 1914 star and bar, British War Medal and Victory Medal. Rank Serjeant. No service record as what I can see, but then it seems he served on in the TF as 6392633 in the Royal Sussex Regiment, which means his paper may have survived but are still with the Ministry of Defence.
His date of entry into France suggests he served with the 2nd batallion, I am sure that somone on the forum can expand on this.
Kind regards,
Lars

Many thanks for your reply.
I have a lot of detail from the regiment (s) with which he served and am looking for some private memories of him and his son Samuel Augustus who was killed in France may 1940. I am just about to send a photo of the graves in Violanes Cemetary, france to the webmaster.

Hi Mike,
I have just added a new page about RSM Samuel Agustus Yarnold who was killed during the retreat to Dunkirk in 1940.
I added your grave photos and I also added a photo of him as well plus some information.
If you go to the 1939-47 Roll of Honour and go to section Y you will see there is a hyperlink on the Yarnold name which will take you to this new page.
Regards,
Louis (webmaster)
