army number

could anyone tell me how to find my paternal grandfather's army number & which regiment he was in.
Richard Cornelius Pearson, lived in Lye or Stourbridge so more than likely joined the Worc Reg (as did my maternal g-grandfather) or possibly South Staffs. I looked for his medal card & there is a choice of 3 matching, but they are listed as Pearson Richard C. & I can't tell which one. I thought I would be onto a winner with such an unusual middle name.
He enlisted before outbreak of WW1 & stayed in after it ended according to family information. He may have had 2 brothers with him.
many thanks
Joy.

Hi Joy,

Richard Cornelius Pearson enlisted in to the Worcestershire Regiment on the 29th August 1914 at Kidderminster and joined the 7th Battalion Worcestershire Regiment. His army number was 2341. He was 23 years old when he enlisted.

He served in France with the 7th Battalion from 31.3.1915 to 6.1.1916.

He was promoted to Lance Corporal on the 8.3.1917
Promoted to Acting Corporal on the 9.8.1915
Promoted to Corporal on the 15.8.1915

He was transferred to the 17th Battalion Gloustershire Regiment on the 1st Jan. 1917 and his army number changed to 290905.

He was discharged from the army on the 30th August 1917.

Hope this helps,

Regards,

Louis

thanks Louis
that dispels a couple of mysteries. He didn't enlist before the war, we always thought he was a boy soldier, & he didn't stay in after the war ended. Family history has always had it that he was actually to young to enlist & wasn't truthful with his age, like my maternal great-grandfather Pte. David Batham 20120 3 Bn. Worc, died 9.8.1915, gravestone reads age 35 when he was 41.
I had an inkling that he had transferred to the Glousters.
I think I know now which medal card is his.
Regards Joy.
