Some things I know.

He served with the 3rd in France, but transferred to 1st and 2nd as well (medal card).

He died in 1918, at home, of influenza (casualty list).

He won his medals as a Corporal, but was buried as a Private.

Ancestry draws a blank beyond that. Is there anything else anyone can tell me?

I have found a reference in the 30 October edition Worcester Herald, of a:

15016 Lanc Cpl A Dowse 11th Battalion Wounded

Could this be your man? Does the Medal Record card show 2 numbers?

Allan,
The card shows only the number given in the post. I think Your A Dowse is LCpl Abram Dowse, number 15916, and on his card shown to be a member of the 11th.

Thanks Lars

I will add a note to the entry I have. Always nice to have a Christian name for the Lads.
