Worcestershire Regiment

I am researching my great uncle John Kenny 3rd Bn Worcestershire
regimental no. 13799. He died of wounds 14 July 1916 and is buried at Etaples Military Cemetery.
As trawling through Ancestry has drawn a blank re. service records, can I ask whether the regimental number was as a regular or was he transferred as new army to the battalion sometime before July 1916.

Someone somewhere must be able to help me!!!!!

Your relative chose join the Worcestershire Regiment around 10th August 1914. He was one of the first to volunteer after Lord Kitchiner's call to arms. He joined as a Regular but was part of the New Army. He joined in Worcester but gave an address in Birmingham. He probably left for France early 1915 (The date will be on his Medal Index Card). He was wounded around the beginning of April 1915, so his luck did not hold for long. I assume he recovered from his first wound and then got wounded again, which led to his death in hospital at Etaples. Hope this little starter information starts you off on much deeper research.
