How do I find out my wifes' grandfathers service details?

Postby GFULLER » Tue Dec 07, 2010 12:14 am

The only details I have been able to obtain are that his name was James Eugenius Baldegger. He was in the Worcestershire regiment and he was discharged sometime between 1883 and 1900. The one thing going in my favour is his unusual surname. He was born in 1878 in London.

Sir; Are your dates correct ? If he was born in 1878 and you are searching for information between 1883 and 1900 he would have been between 5 and 12 years of age. Respectfully yours

in 1900 he would have been 22. I don't know how old you had to be to join the army. If you had to be 18 then I reckon that he would have joined sometime from 1896 and left before the end of 1900.
