pte J Mascord 10th Bn

Does anyone have any knowledge of this soldier? I think his number could be 18833, but this could be the number of the document on which he appears. It is issued by the War office, and signed by the secretary of state, dated 14th March 1919. It states he was mentioned in a dispatch from Field marshall Sir Douglas Haig dated 9th April 1917, for gallant and distinguished services in the field.
Unfortunately I have no other information. Document was found among some old family papers. Can't find any record of him dying during the war.

You're right about the number.First name John. Medal index cards on ancestry confirm MID 22/5/17. First entry to France 15/7/15.
Could this be him in the 1911 census?

Many thanks. Is there any way we can find out what Pte Mascord did to cause him to be mentioned in dispatches?
