Hi

I'm trying to trace as much as possible about my grandfathers time in the regiment.
His name was Thomas Evans, a private I believe, was from West Bromwich and had a service number of 9822.
Any information you are able to provide would most useful.

Many thanks

Hi Barry,

Private Thomas Evans (9822) initially was with the 5th Battalion Worcestershire Regiment and was then posted to the 1st Battalion Worcestershire Regiment overseas. He was awarded two medals; British War Medal and Victory Medal (this would suggest he joined the army sometime from 1916 onwards).

Hope this helps a bit.
