Hi,

I'm currently undertaking some research into the life of an author of a book I am
reading, and have ascertained that he was commissioned into the 4th (militia?)
Bn, Sherwood Foresters as a second lieutenant in 1888, during his time when he
attended Cambridge University. I am trying to trace how long he served with the
Bn (I have found a rough reference to him aspiring to the rank of lieutenant) and
the date he resigned his commission (or left for other reasons). He worked as
a war correspondent in South Africa from 1899-1900, and I think it likely that he
would have resigned his commission before then. His Bn was mobilised and sent
to SA in 1901.

The name of the person in question is:

Hon Seton Robert de la Poer Horsley-Beresford
(born 25 July 1868).

Any help would be gratefully received.

Thanks in advance.
