Mike,

My wife's great grandfather, William (Samuel) White, born Oldbury, 1868, enlisted 19 March 1887 at Worcester and was given number 2088. Attestation states previous service with 4th Battalion Worcs Militia - would be grateful for any information on this. Served in East Indies from Jan 1891 to Nov 1896 and Boer War from Mar 1900 to Jun 1902. Completed service July 1902, then signed on for 4 years in the reserve from December 1902. Served again in WW1 from Dec 1914 to Feb 1919 but not with the Worcestershire Regiment.

Hope this is useful,
best regards,
Martin Cope

Hello Martin,
Thank you for contacting me with this information, your wife's Great Grandfather is now in my Data-base with the lowest Regimental number I have in the regular army. I wish I could give you some information in return. I can tell you where there will be some information though! If you contact the research team at Norton Barracks, address and link to them on the home page of this website. They will have many details I am sure including his Boer War activities. A small donation to help with the upkeep of the very archives you need is always appreciated by them.
Many thanks Mike.
