Can someone help interpret a MIC please, or should I say a record of SWB issue. Apart from enlistment and discharge dates the card has a section titled REASON FOR DISCHARGE underneath which are the seperate entries of AO 291*18 and psq 111*CKR, the asteriks are forward slashes. Do these two entries give any indication for the mans discharge e.g. wounded or unfit for service.

Enlisted 9-10-15 and was discharged 16-4-16
AO (Army Order)
AO 291/18 - I'm not sure on, but some sources take it as a
sign of the awarding of a silver war badge.
KR(Kings Regulations) P(paragraph)
P392/iii e KR - means that he was discharged as not likely to
become an efficient soldier.
If you go to this website it will give a more detailed reason
behind this.

John does not leave much to clear up. It is indeed Army Order 291 of 1918 (The year) . The A.O. changed each year on the issue of Silver War Badges. Which is indeed what this is all about. The Code underneath are the reference letters you will need should you wish to look him up at Kew. List T P *3466 .. T P are the code letters for the London Record Office, which covered amongst others the Royal Fusiliers. If you have Ancestry put the surname only "Goodwin" in the box , then only the regimental number 5037. It brings two men up. Are they one and the same man ?
