Hi David,
The Regimental Archives at Worcester hold full details of the Silver War Badges so they may be able to help you. They do charge a research fee of £25. Their contact details are:
The Mercian Regiment Museum (Worcestershire)
Dancox House,
Pheasant Street,
Worcester,
WR1 2EE
Tel: 01905 721982

hello Louis,
Thanks for information, I'll phone them.
On another matter, as you seem to be very knowledgable can I ask you another question please. On the MIC from the National Archive for a Pte Albert Hinett 1858/200239 he is identified as "Hines" yet on Ancestry he is correctly identied as Hinett. His medals are Hinett so how can they be different as I assume Ancestry get their information from National archives?
Besty Regards,
David

Hi David,
The National Archives website has a transcription error on his name. Private Albert Hinett (1858) is the correct name, served with the 2/7th Battalion Worcestershire Regiment and was either sick or wounded at some point as he was awarded the Silver War badge. When he was issued with the Silver War Badge his army number was 200239.
As he was not awarded either the 1914 Star or the 1914-15 Star this would indicate that he did not go overseas until 1916 at the earliest. Therefore, he would have served in the U.K. prior to that date.
Private Albert Hinett (1858) was in the Territorial Army before the war I believe serving with the 7th Battalion Worcestershire Regiment. In addition to the War Medal and the Victory Medal, he was awarded the Territorial Force War Medal in 1920.
The medal was established in April of 1920 for award to members of the Territorial Force and Territorial Force Nursing Services who volunteered for service overseas on or before 30th September 1914, and served overseas. They had to have been serving with the force on 4th August 1914 or have completed four years service with the force before 4th August 1914 and rejoined the force on or before 30th September 1914.

I have Ancestry if you need anything looking up.
I would recommend it if you're into both Family History and Military history.
I've been with them for 6 years now and their collections are still growing.
Whatever you do, don't subscribe to Forces War Records, it's appaling in it's
lack of information which is obtained from free sites anyway.
Cheers
John.
