Military Medals

Postby Mike Jones » Fri Aug 24, 2007 9:30 am

Morning Beardie,
Does your system work in reverse? Can you tell me if any Military Medals were awarded to Worcestershire Regiment soldiers from Chatham or Gillingham, please? I can see you know your way around certain areas of research. Is your special interest The Great War in general, Worcestershire Regiment or is it Medals?
Regards Mike

Local Medal Winners.

Postby Mike Jones » Tue Aug 28, 2007 10:51 am

Hi Beardie,
Thanks for that, I know how long some "look ups" can take. I will now check in my local papers to see if either man got a write up. It will surely be after the date of the London Gazette announcement. Pte. Banner 9954 was 2nd. Bn. and died of wounds 16-11-1914, so he must have been wounded at or shortly after Gheluvelt. Cpl. Wells 11341 was 2/8th Bn., he also sadly died but not till 1918.
Many thanks Mike

Hi Beardy,

Any chance if you could look up my Gt Grandfathers Gazette record. He won a MM at some pint I think in 1917 and was I think living in London t the time.

His name was George VIctor Huzzey of the 3rd Battalion

Thank you,

Lee
