Hi
Can anyone help me with any information regarding my grandfather,George Henry Stokes? The only details I have are sketchey. He was captured during a gas attack on Ypres, always described as a mustard gas attack, so I assume it dates this as circa 1917.He was taken prisoner and put to work in local salt mines.
After the war ended he must have stayed on as a regular, and served in India. He was a keen boxer, and became light heavyweight champion (army) before returning home about 1925/1926.
If anyone can offer any assistance I would be most grateful.

Kind Regards

David Edward Brookes

Do you have any service number or indication to regiment? Perhaps a photo in uniform that gives badges etc? Unfortunately too many George Stokes or George H Stokes to be able to pinpoint without further details.
