Hello to all,

I am new on this forum,

I wish to obtain information about a
Worcestershire Regiment Bed Plate
I have.

Name Howles F.

Plate Number 5246870

My request, is this plate WW1 or WW2 (or after)?

Howles F is not listed on the CWGC Casualties Information.

Is the number 5246870 his regiment number?

Whilst thanking you all in anticipation,

Best regards to all,

Vincent Borg.

Hello Vincent,
That number 5246870 was issued after WW!, around the year 1926. This is not my area of Knowledge but I know someone who will know. Contact the the Official researchers at Norton Barracks, Worcester. There is a link to them from the Home page of this website. They have all the enlistment Ledgers for this period. The entries are quite detailed and will have a lot of information on this man.

Hi

I was most stunned by finding this post but the bedplate you have was my Grandfathers.
5246870 Frederick Arthur Howles
Born 29th Sept 1907
Joined Worcestershire Regt on 08-10-1923
He served throughout WW2 and died about 15 years ago.
He served in Malta from 1930 until 1940 on 2 tours. He went to France on D-Day.

Hoping this finds you.

Regards
