Albert E Richardson 9th Battalion information?

Postby Justin101 » Thu Sep 29, 2011 10:45 am

Hi
I'm currently researching my great grand fathers cousin Albert Edward Richardson and one search came up with him being killed in action whilst fighting in the Worcestershire Regiment. Is there any way to find his home address or next of kin so I can confirm that this Albert is the correct one and if it is what other information I'd be able to find out about his time in the army?
The information I have is as follows:
DOB: 21 Dec 1894 Smethwick, Mother: Emily (but he may of listed his grand mother Hannah, (it's a long story!))
Death date: 9 Apr 1916
Death location: Mesopotamia
Enlistment location: Birmingham
Rank: L/Corporal
Regiment/battalion: Worcestershire Regiment 9th Battalion
Number: 14779
Type of Casualty: Killed in action
Theatre of War: Asiatic Theatres

Any help would be much appreciated

Hi Justin

I have found a reference in the Worcester Herald.

13th May 1916 edition
Killed
14779 Cpl A. E. Richardson – Birmingham – 9th Battalion

Also

27th May 1916 edition
Killed
14779 Act Cpl A. E. Richardson – Coventry

Try the Regimental Archive, they may be able to help. There is a link on the home page.
