My grandfather, George Oliver was in the Worcestershire regiment, I think the 4th battalion. He was wounded in the thigh in the battle of Gallipoli. Are there any records of where he was in hospital and how can I obtain details of his army records, I know his number was 17794.

Hello Janet, I have amateur status only at researching but all I can find reference George Oliver is his medal index card which is available on Ancestry if you know anyone with membership or from The National Archives cat no WO372/15..image reference54064/8801, at a cost of £2,it might help others more knowledgable if you have an address for him around the 1901 census.../ keep looking, regards Colin

Hi Janet,
No Service or Pension Papers ,for your relation ,appear to have survived the WW2 London Blitz, when about 2/3rds were burnt or water damaged.
His MIC notes the award of the 1914-15 Star ,War and Victory Medals, and also a Silver War Badge.
Pte.Oliver enlisted 4/9/1914 and was discharged 7/9/1916(wounds) He first entered a military war zone( 2B Balkans)25/4/1915.
Regards,
corona.
