Pte Charles William Henry Harris 7025

Postby tigger88 » Wed Jul 11, 2012 6:06 am

His regimental number was 7025 and he was enlisted in the Worcester Regiment 3rd Battalion.
He born in 1885 in Northern Ireland so not quite sure how he became involved with the Worcester Regiment although he was with his sister in Liverpool in 1911. How do I find out when he actually enlisted or where he actually went in the First World War theatre of war as no personnel file can be found. I do have his medal card.
He was killed in France on 20/10/1914 so must have gone with the first lot. His medal card suggests he entered France on 12 August 1914. As he seems to be one of the first to embark for o/s he must have been an army reservist. Is there a register anywhere that would verify this.
Any help appreciated.

I believe 7025 Pte Harris enlisted into the Worcestershire Regiment between 13/1/1902 and 2/1/1903 (on a date closer to the last months of1902 I suspect )
All though not in 1911, serving in the Regular Army, he would have a reserve commitment and been recalled to the Colours in August 1914.
