Hi
I'm trying to find information on my Grandad and perhaps theres someone out there that might be able to help me. :?:

He joined the Worcestershire Regiment arround 1890ish, and was staioned at Norton Barracks.

He served in Bermuda India in 1950, where his wife gave birth to a little girl, who later became my Mum.

In 1917ish he was discharged due to the wounds he'd recieved in the 1st world war.

Thank you

Ruby

Hi Ruby,

Do you know your Grandfathers service number?

A lot of men by the name of George Jones served with the Worcesters.

Hi Ruby,

With out his service number can't help much. I have found a number of medal index cards under the name George Jones but they would not be of use if you don't know your Grandfathers number. Could check for service records but again would need some more information i.e. date of birth and where born, parents names etc. However during a bombing raid in 1940 the place where the records were stored received a direct hit and many of the records were destroyed (about 60%) and of the remaining records a lot were badly damaged by fire and (or) water. Worth a try at least.

Regards

Hi Ruby

No problem, if you do get more information I will see if we have any luck regarding service papers.

If you or a member of your family have your Granfathers medals his service number will be on the reverse of the Star.
