9th Battalion at Dover

Postby Phil Eyden » Sun Apr 12, 2015 11:26 am

Hi,

I am researching the history of the WW2 infantry garrison at Dover, a complicated issue as there were usually three or four battalions spread out over a number of locations and changing every few months. No master list exists - I wish!

I have a gap in late 1943 and I believe the 9th Worcestershire Regiment was stationed here, possibly from November 43 to October 44, but am not certain. Would anyone have information on this and/or their location please? The War Diary exists but has not been uploaded to the page here yet.

During the summer as a volunteer, I often take tour groups around one of the old barrack sites, i.e. the Grand Shaft Barracks, so am trying to compile a set of notes and battalion list for the public.

Many thanks!

Phil
