Alfred Edwin Rowles or Alfred Ernest Rowles

Postby ROLLO » Sat Aug 11, 2018 1:54 pm

Looking through 'Worcestershire Regiment View Soldier' I found an entry for Alfred EDWIN Rowles, 10th battalion, No. 20269, Private.
It states that he joined on 19.7.1915. Other information: Gassed and suffered breathing problems later in life. Died at Kidderminster in 1959, age 61. (Where does this information come from?)

Now, his MiC lists him as Alfred E. Rowles, his medal Roll entry lists him as Alfred E. Rowles and there are no service papers.

His name and number also appears in the Red Cross Papers as a 'Prisoner of War' and he was sent to Friedrichfeld Camp.
But they list him on two separate sheets as Alfred ERNEST Rowles. This man was born in 1894 and died in 1963, age 68.
I can email these sheets if anyone would like to see them.

Which of these names is correct and which man is the correct man that served in this regiment.

CAN ANYONE HELP PLEASE
