Lieut.-Colonel Fulton, commissioned in to the Green Howards (Prince of Wale's Own Yorkshire Regiment) in 1892. Promoted in to the Worcestershire Regiment as a Lieutenant on the 20th June 1900. In 1900, when the 3rd and 4th Battalions of the Regiment were raised at Aldershot, the 2nd Battalion was in South Africa and the 1st Battalion was under orders for that theatre of war. For a time the two Battalions were amalgamated under one Commanding Officer (Lieut.-Col. Hilton) and one Adjutant (Lieut., later Lieut-Colonel Sir John Reddie).
In 1902, Lieut.-Colonel Chesney was appointed to command the 4th Battalion and Lieut. Fulton, from the Green Howards, was selected as Adjutant. He came with a great reputation as a smart and good officer and certainly fully justified this reputation. He was a good athlete and kept wicket very successfully for the Regimental Eleven for a number of years.
In the 1914-18 war he commanded a Battalion of the Scottish Rifles and won the D.S.O. He held staff appointments at the senior officers intelligence school at Aldershot and at G.H.Q. British Forces in Italy. Appointed a Brigade Major on the 31st August 1914. Temp. Lieut.-Colonel on 31st August 1917. From 14th August to 24th November 1918 he was Chief Instructor at the Central Army School. Made a substantive Lieut.-Colonel on the 25th August 1919.

Lieut.-Colonel Fulton died at Exmoor on the 23rd December 1951, Age 79.
