Lieut.-Colonel Jack Walter HALLOWES, M.C. (22364)
Commanded the 8th Battalion Worcestershire Regiment from September 1943 to July 1944.
 
Lieut.-Colonel Hallowes was commissioned in to The King's Shropshire Light Infantry. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on the 18th May 1915. For gallantry in WW1 he was awarded the Military Cross (London Gazette 14th January 1916). On the 18th January 1916 he was seconded for service as a Brigade Machine Gun Officer and made Temp. Captain whilst so employed. Followed on the 16th May 1916 to be seconded to Machine Gun Corps. On the 18th August 1917 promoted to Captain. He returned to The King's Shropshire Light Infantry on the 25th September 1919.

During WW2 he was promoted to Lieut.-Colonel on the 7th February 1941 and for awhile commanded a battalion of the K.S.L.I.

In September 1943 he transferred to the Worcestershire Regiment and commanded the 8th Battalion until July 1944.

On the 24th January 1946 he retired from the army on account of disability.
