Lieut.-Colonel Bernard Cautley WILKINSON (27071)
Commanded the 2nd Battalion Worcestershire Regiment from May 1943 to November 1943.
 
Bernard Cautley Wilkinson was born on the 8th March 1900 at Anerley, London.

On the 20th December 1918 he was commissioned into the The King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry (K.O.Y.L.I.) with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant.

He was promoted to rank of Lieutenant on the 20th December 1920.

From the 29th May 1926 to 30th April 1931 he was employed with King's African Rifles. He was promoted to Captain on the 16th January 1930 and from the 3rd February 1930 he was a Company Commander with the 3rd (Kenya) Battalion at Meru.

In June 1933 he rejoined the 2nd Battalion The King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, at Agra, India.

(January 1937) 2nd Battalion The King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry (Maymyo, Burma).

On the 1st August 1938 he was promoted to rank of Major.

In January 1939 he joined the 1st Battalion The King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry (Strensall, York).

As Acting Lieut.-Colonel he commanded the 2nd Battalion The Worcestershire Regiment from May 1943 to November 1943 at Madras, India.

Retired 10.03.1949 and granted honorary rank of Lieut.-Colonel 

Lieut.-Colonel Bernard Cautley Wilkinson died in September 1985, at Leeds, West Yorkshire.

His mother was Ethel C. Wilkinson (née Coomber) she was a British Subject born in India.
