Hi,
I am trying to find out as much as I can about my great grandfather he was a Col. Sgt. with the 29th Regiment, his name was John McKenzie and was married to Mary, they were in Nasirabad between 1882 - 1883 and had a daughter born there in 1883. They moved to Karachi between 1884-1886 another daughter was born there called Gerturde in 1886. I then find that they moved to Broomhall Barracks, Kempsey, Upton on Severn, Worcs (is this another name for Norton Barracks) dates I have are 1890 Caroline was born, 1892 Edith was born, 1894 Violet May was born. The family then seemed to move to Kings Norton, Smethwick, Staffs.
Is there anyone with any information at all out there?

Cheers

Hi Jacqui
Welcome to the Forum for the information that you require I think it would be best to contact RHQ at Norton Barracks Worcester you will find out how to do this on the left hand side of the home page of this site give them all the information that you have including if possible his Regimental number I feel sure that if at all possible they will help you They have the kind of information that you require in the Regimental archives but please remember they are volunteer helpers who do this so a small donation would be nice All the very best with your search

Jacqui
I have had your enquiry researched in the Regimental archives. They have the following details:
144 John McKenzie enlisted 27 April 1868 aged 18.Joined 1st Battalion on transfer from 2nd bn which was in Ireland at that time. To England 5 April 1889.
I hope this helps.

Dear Albuera

Thank you so much, the jig saw is coming together bit by bit. In the archives does it tell you the birth place of the enlister? Or his last address?

Many thanks
