Born at Stourbridge on the 27th April 1895, Lieut.-Colonel Edwards was commissioned into The Worcestershire Regiment in October 1916 and served on
and after World War 1 in the 7th Battalion
(T.A.). He was a very keen T.A. officer and commanded the 7th Battalion from November 1936 to September 1939. He then commanded the 9th Battalion Worcestershire Regiment for a short time. During the Second World War, his war service came to an abrupt halt in November 1939 when he was retired on medical grounds, although he subsequently served as a Home Guard Company Commander. In later years he became a regular attender at Regimental functions. Lieut.-Colonel Edwards died at Stourbridge on 2nd April, 1980, at the age of 84. after a short illness. |
