Drummer William Dowse
(8247) of the 3rd Battalion Worcestershire Regiment
William Dowse from Wantage, joined the 3rd battalion in 1904. Although the attestation form says that he was 14 years 0 months, it was actually a
month before his birthday. He was killed on 1st June 1916 at Vimy Ridge and is buried in Coivres Cemetery.
His brother (Albert Dowse - 10642 ) also served with the Worcestershire Regiment. He made it home, but died of influenza in 1918.
