8th Battalion Worcestershire Regiment - 1931-38

On the 23rd January 1938 the 8th Battalion carried out T.E.W.T. (Tactical Exercise Without Troops) in the Stratford-on-Avon area in conjunction with the 67th Field Brigade R.A. (Royal Artillery). At the beginning of 1938 the battalions strength had gone down very considerably owing to dischages of men unable to fulfil their obligations. Active recruiting was carried out for two to three months as the battalion required 150 men to complete its peace time establishment.

No. 12 Platton of 'C' Company represented the battalion in the Southern Command Congreve Cup Competition on the 20th March 1938 and achieved a firing score of 418. However, owing to an error all competing units had to re-fire on the 1st May and 12 Platoon scored 435. They were placed 2nd in the Command Competition.

The Annual Camp was held at Porthcawl from the 31st July to 14th August 1938.
