Son of Alfred Benjamin and Sarah Ann Smith, of Wollescote, Worcestershire; husband of Florence Mary Smith.
Private Smith was serving in 16 platoon of 'D' Company. During the attack at Vehlingen, Germany in an area where an autobahn was under construction. Private Smith was attempting to go out and bring in a wounded comrade, but as he knelt up to remove his pack he was mortally wounded.
Son of Alfred Benjamin and Sarah Ann Smith, of Wollescote, Worcestershire; husband of Florence Mary Smith.
