Corporal John (Jack) William Harris (9593) - 4th Battalion Worcestershire Regiment

John (Jack) William Harris was in the 4th Battalion Worcestershire Regiment in the WW1 and he was present in Gallipoli when his stepbrother Thomas Stanley Pendress (20333) was killed on 6th August 1915. The two photographs attached show Jack with his future wife, Winifred Kate Hadley and they married at St. Michael and All the Angels, Bartley Green, Northfield on 29th January 1921. In the first photo he is a private and the second he is a corporal. They had two daughters. Jacks uncle, Simeon Pendress (3998), died at Hartley Wintney, Hampshire on 15th May 1915 as a result of injuries sustained

Jack went on to be an engineering foreman for G. P. Trentham and was killed on 3rd September 1937 whilst his engineering gang were laying sewerage piping on the Southern Railway, near Ashford, Kent and stepped in front of the express milk train to the south coast.
